I am a bilingual Spanish/English Registered Clinical Counsellor. I view counselling as a unique experience in which two or more people relate authentically and safely to promote personal growth and change.
Being a Latin American immigrant woman has enriched my counselling work while raising my awareness on systemic issues related to immigration and settlement challenges. I appreciate the richness of living in a multicultural society and enjoy working with clients from all cultural backgrounds.
In my clinical work, I provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental environment in which clients openly explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and work through their challenges. My counselling modality is non-directive, cooperative, holistic, and strength-based. Drawing from a Person-Centered approach, I believe that we are inherently resourceful and we can find our own path in life by trusting and acknowledging our inner resources. As we are all impacted by themes prevalent in the dominant culture, I assist clients in becoming aware of the systemic barriers that may interfere with their overall state of well-being.
My work experience includes individual counselling in private practice, working in the public school system with newcomer students and families, and working in non-profit agencies facilitating diverse types of workshops and assisting children with autistic spectrum disorders.
I bring special expertise in the following areas: Bi-Cultural Parenting, Settlement Issues, Life Transitions, and Special Needs Children/Students.
Areas of Interest:
Grief and Loss
I am registered with EAP and Victim Services programs. I provide sliding scale fees.
